ACTIVITIES OF THE SOCIETY

1.International Thalassaemia Day May 04, 2019

The day was celebrated with the usual glory and enthusiasm at the Thalassaemia House. Lt Gen Asif Mumtaz Sukhera HI[M] [R], was the Chief Guest. The welcome address was delivered by the President Maj. Gen (R) Suhaib Ahmad, who expressed his determination to make the Thalassaemia House, a state of the art centre in the years since his fisrt tenure. The senior Ex-officers of Armed Forces and Medical Doctors participated in the programme. The patients showed great enthusiasm by reciting from the Holy Quran, Naat and staging an impressive Tubeule for the audience. A magic show was specially arranged for the patients, for their entertainment which was fully enjoyed. The chief guest stressed the importance of Thalassarmic parent’s awareness and thier contribution through Medask (A project of Army Welfare Trust). The function ended by presentation of a shield to the chief guest and the children who perforned in an excellent way. The lunch for the participants and Guets was served after concluding of the programme

2.Seminar on Impact of Thalassaemia February 23, 2019

The first seminar on Impact of Thalassaemia was organized at Thalassaemia House on February 23, 2019. The purpose of seminar was to develop the sense of awareness among public about Thalassaemia. Distiguished Guests from the fields of Medical, Academia and Research attended this seminar. Vice Chancellor Muslim Youth University Dr. Tahir Hijazi, Vice President Higher Studies International Islamic University Islamabad Prof Aqdas Naveed Malik, Dr. Sahar Fazal Head of Bioinformatics Department Capital University of Science and Technology, Islamabad, Prof. Nayyer Masood Head Computer Science Department Capital University of Science and Technology Islamabad, Ms. Wajeeha Zafar and Dr. Adeladae expressed their kind gratitude for the essence on the diagnosis of Thalassaemia. 
Chief Admin officer PATHWEL Mr. S.M. Ali Farhan shared his working approach on the collection of Blood pits and announced the MoUs with CUST and Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industries Rawalpindi in his tenure as CAO. 
President PATHWEL Maj Gen Suhaib Ahmed HI[M] [R], announced his newly innovative low cost device for the diagnosis of Thalassaemia. Certificates and Flowers were awarded to the participants along with the lunch at the end of seminar.

3.Visit of Bismillah Foundation UK on March 12, 2019

The deligation of Bismillah Foundation UK visited PATHWEL centre to give cash donation of Rs 576000/- The President PATHWEL Maj Gen Suahib Ahmed [R], said “We are greatly indebted for their cooperation and help.”.

4.MoU with Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industries Rawalpindi (RCCI) December 2018

The MoU was sighned between PATHWEL and RCCI in aspect of organizing Blood Camp in premises of RCCI on yearly basis. President RCCI and President PATHWEL formally signed the MoU.

5.Askari Islamic Banking Donation Head Office F-8 Markaz, Islamabad

The Askari Islamic Bank donated to the Pakistan Thalassaemia Welfare Society Rs. One Million for the up-graduation of Blood Bank & Laboratory on 5th Dec 2016. Following equipments were purchased.

With the addition of above equipment, we have started preparing Red Cell Concentrate (RCCS) and Fresh Frozen Plasma FFP. The Society is greatly indebted to the Islamic banking for the generous donation.

6.Recreation Room Inauguration

The President PATHWEL inaugurated Recreation Room on Ground Floor of Thalassaemia House in order to give pleasure for the patients (Thalassaemic Children).
